Third Time's A Charm ...

The Third Annual Best of Fremont represents readers’ favorites for the city’s service professionals, restaurants, shops, parks, schools — you name it.

The Best of Fremont 2011 is a joint effort between the weekly Fremont Bulletin newspaper and the daily Argus newspaper. All ballots were exhaustively reviewed by the Fremont Bulletin staff. The batch of winners for 2011 is represented by many longtime businesses. However, there are some newcomers who surprised many and raced to the top.

This survey is not scientific and does not claim to be. But it does reflect opinions of those Fremont residents who feel strongly about a service, store or businessperson, and all votes that were legitimately fielded were objectively counted. Suspected stuffers on printed and online ballots were eliminated. Sometimes regional or specialty businesses in Newark or Union City were nominated and in cases where they had a significant amount of votes they were included.

When the Best of Fremont winner was closely followed by others, the runners-up were recognized with what we call an Honor Award.

This 100-category list plus all the quirky write-ins provides recognition for businesses that try harder to satisfy their customers. It is also a good guide for newcomers to get acquainted with merchants recommended by their neighbors.
